Namkaran Puja
Namkaran Puja, also known as the Naming Ceremony, is one of the sixteen sacred Hindu Samskaras (Shodasha Samskaras) performed to officially name a newborn baby. The ceremony is conducted to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Saraswati, the family deity, and the Navagrahas for the child's health, happiness, wisdom, prosperity, and long life. Traditionally performed on the 11th, 12th, or a suitable auspicious day after birth, Namkaran Puja includes purification rituals, Sankalp, Ganesh Puja, Havan, horoscope-based name selection (optional), and the formal announcement of the baby's name.
